BLS 24 - Journaling and Notebooks
Dragonwood A Game of Dice & Daring | First Principles Thinking | The Observer Effect - Tobi Lutke
👋 Hello
When I sat down last week to reflect on the year, most memories I had were from the last few months of the year. I blanked on the earlier part of the year. Then I realized the importance of journaling and notebook.
I’ve been keeping a notebook for almost 25 years now. And yes, I do re-read them — they’re where many things in my books begin.
Austin Kleon
Since I read the post "The year in notebooks" by Austin Kleon, I have kept a notebook to scribble things throughout the day. I scribble my thoughts, mood, how I respond to interactions with my kids and my wife, and all other dumb things that come to my mind.
After keeping a notebook for a few weeks, I can say, it is useful to look back on the day and reflect on your mood and thoughts. I still do not have a journaling practice. I have tried many times and failed to follow a journaling practice. After staring at the blank page for a few days in a row, I give up.
Now, every morning I look at the notebook and pick a few things to write about. Keeping a notebook has helped me overcome the “staring at a blank page” problem.
Do you keep a journal or a notebook? What keeps you motivated to write daily?

If you are looking for a fun game to play with your kids or gift ideas, I highly recommend the Dragonwood game. The goal of the game is to capture the creatures. Since we bought the game a month ago, we have played it more than 15 times. And my son complains we do not play this game enough.
