BLS #19 - Living a Regret Free Life
7 principles to a peaceful life | Unique gift idea for programmers
👋 Hello
We can get a different perspective from people who have lived their life longer than us. Bronnie Ware, an Australian nurse spent several years working in palliative care, caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives. She recorded their dying epiphanies and shared her observations in her book “The Top Five Regrets of the Dying“. She questioned them about their regrets or anything they would do differently. The five common themes she found are
I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself not the life others expected of me.
I wish I hadn’t worked so hard
I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings
I wish I’d stayed in touch with my friends
I wish that I’d let myself be happier
We have the opportunity to flip the script and live differently now to avoid regrets when we leave.
Don’t let your dreams go unfulfilled. Don’t let other’s expectations of you dictate your life. Go with your instinct and live the life you want to live.
Work is to support your life but not dictate your time. Spend as much time as possible with family and friends if possible in nature.
Don’t let other’s opinions stop you from expressing your feelings. Ignore the haters.
Do not let work and family be a reason for not being in touch with your friends. Make time for friends.
Find love and happiness in small things. Don’t wait to smile or celebrate. Be happy.
